Muffins – Not Just Breakfast Food

Healthy muffins are just not for breakfast anymore. Hill & Valley has a great variety of Sugar Free and No Sugar Added muffins to choose from, and this month we are featuring No Sugar Added Banana Walnut Muffins.

Two main ingredients, bananas and walnuts, contain energy-giving substances needed for any time of day or evening. Some surprising healing properties are:

  • Improves Sleep – Walnuts contain a compound called melatonin, responsible for conveying messages regarding the cycle of light and dark to the body. Eating walnuts increases the blood levels of melatonin, thereby inducing sleep.
  • Mood Boosting – Bananas contain tryptophan, an amino acid that studies suggest plays a role in preserving memory and boosting your mood!
  • Prevents Diabetes – Women who ate 1 ounce of walnuts just twice a week were 24% less likely to develop type 2 diabetes, according to a 2013 study published in the Journal of Nutrition. Even though it was conducted on women, experts believe that the benefits would be similar for men, too.
