Chocolate and Peppermint – A Yummy and Healthy Combo!

Read Post

Two of my most favorite ingredients — chocolate and peppermint – are great together during the holidays or any time of year. We are so lucky that Hill & Valley have put this beautiful combination together in their Sugar Free Double Chocolate Peppermint Cookies. While you enjoy these yummy cookies – and yes they taste as good as they sound — your body will love these health benefits:

  • Chocolate may be able to join the fight against diabetes. A small Italian study from 2005 found that consuming chocolate regularly increases insulin sensitivity, which reduces diabetes risk.
  • Peppermint and chocolate seem to help boost your mood and make you less stressed. And, some even report increased alertness and enhance your memory. We all need this during the busy holiday season and beyond.
  • The most touted health benefit from chocolate is being heart healthy. It helps lower the ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol, which decreases your risk of heart disease.
